The Truck And The Turtle: Mount Warning

On the 11-4-12 we went to mount warning, not very good weather, but a beautiful camp spot the first caravan park we went to which allowed fires. toured around the local area including Uki, their markets were unique.
We tried many times to climb the mountain but the weather stopped us. One day it looked promising so we bit the bullet and climbed only to get half way up and you know it, it rained the rest of the way up, the view WHAT VIEW just white. Karen been so fit found it easy but me because of many years of smoking found it hard but I got to the top, my heart rate reached 170 many times, From bottom to top is 4.4 kilometres of nothing but up all the way, no easy going.

BrisbaneBrisbane

We went to Brisbane to catch up with the mother in law Joan and Ros, Karen’s aunt, the occasion was their respective birthdays. We also caught up with Bernadette Dick Robyn and Kerry at the Colmslie Hotel for Karen's 56th birthday.

South Stradbroke Island

Next day Ros and Bob took us on the ferry to South Stradbroke Island I’ll let the photo’s tell the story.

Next back to the Sunny Coast to catch up with Pushpa Geoff Renee and Lillie.

Emerald

EmeraldWent back to Emerald so Karen could work for Jenny for three weeks and we baby sat Rosanne and Bill whites house for five weeks, Karen had a great time organising girl night out’s and I had fun catching yellow belly eel tailed cat fish and red claw, we lived off the river for a week till the river flooded.

Barcaulden

Off again after a great time in Emerald. Next stop Barcy showgrounds park. Walking around town next day we ran into friends we made in Ballina Richard and Carol they were heading the same way as us, Longreach Winton Mount Isa Katherine Darwin, you wouldn’t believe it.

LongreachLongreach

On the way to Longreach we had our first Blow Out, shredded the tyre but didn’t damage the rim. Didn’t do much in Longreach because we had done it before, Richard and Carol did the tourist thing.

Winton

We did the tourist thing in Winton visited the dinosaur stampede, dinosaur museum 13k out of town, truck museum, waltzing matilda centre, and various other sights in town. Went to dinner with Richard and Carol to the flash hotel in town the Gregory Hotel it was very flash in it’s day with bell boys etc, some of the original lights are still there. At dinner we listened to a country singer who among many songs sang three versions of Waltzing Matilda.
