Lennox Head and Ballina very laid back places.

Once we settled in to this lifestyle it’s great, so easy.  Rode around Ballina, the walk ways and bike paths are unbelievable just so scenic.  Mainly along the Richmond River and the coast line.  Lennox Head is just stunning it’s a surfers paradise, plus it has this fresh water Lake Ainsworth with it’s tea stained water.  Many people were swimming in it so calming. Many boutiques  and cafe’s all so charming.

The Village Plateau has these quaint little towns, Alstonville and Woloongbar and many more all so very close. The drive around this plateau is stunning green and more green, lush is probably a better word.  Had a visit to the house with no steps very good, or it’s known as Summerland House Farm providing employment opportunities for people with a disability. It has a huge farm plus nursery and cafe and much more.  Up the  road they have the worlds only living lattice maze with lots of puzzles  and a cafe.  It was fun to do the maze very challenging. Then we drove off to Victoria Park it has a little rain forest, along a boardwalk  very enjoyable.

South Ballina and Evans Heads

IMAG0324 (Medium)Got the ferry at west Ballina to go over to south Ballina only $4.40  for a drive out to the south wall.  Chris did a bit of fishing off the wall.  Got a photo of a young sea eagle got quite close.  There are a lot of cyclists on these quite roads.  So many little villages just everywhere. Wardell is a very historic little place steeped in history and the best pie shop right on the Richmond River.

Evans Heads

Went to Evans Heads thought we stepped back twenty years what a peaceful perfect place.  Not touched by progress as yet the Evan River so clear ran into the sea. Saw two turtles and a pod of dolphins so close and it was a warm sunny day.  Had a lovely lunch at the RSL out on the deck over looking the river saw a couple of whistling kites just a great sight.  Chris was a bit upset he forgot his fishing rod we could the fish so clearly so big.  We were sorry to leave this little slice of heaven.

Went to The Shannon Craft Market took the scenic route from Ballina  went through all little villages just so gorgeous. Took us about an hour to get there, what a sight very alternate.  They had everything food whatever you desired and the entertainment was good.  If you had plenty of room it would had have been better I could have gone wild damn the turtle!!! Only kidding.

Went for the normal drive home through Lismore it’s  quite large didn’t stay long need to go back spend a full day there. On the way back decided to go to the macadamia castle and the Thursday Plantation Farm both very enjoyable. Bought some tea tree oil very handy to have around. Took a few photos enjoy!!!!  Well that’s it for now till I get the urge again!!!!!

Yamba Main Beach & Pippy Beach

Well it’s been awhile since I’ve been on the BLOG, hope I remember everything worth mentioning.  As I said before beautiful Yamba the beaches and rocks to be explored just gorgeous.  We met some lovely people in Yamba the coffee shop owner of the VINTAGE STORE where I had my photo with BETTY BOO also got a loan of two kayaks.  Went around the inlet for a couple hours Chris put the fishing line off the back no luck.  I had a great time at the GYM WAVES the owners were wonderful very friendly. So it was sad when we left that great little community!!!

Drive to Ballina Via Little Italy

On the drive to BALLINA we stopped at LITTLE ITALY it  was very interesting.  Had scones and coffee very nice, but my the look of my tummy I don’t need any more of that sort of stuff Sad smile The perils of travelling around is having morning tea everyday and 5pm drinks.  Anyway the museum and pavilion was very informative.  The story is about forty families immigrating to Australia and all their trials and tribulations.  They arrived in Sydney July 1880 were given free land in the northern rivers region and work they did.  They grew grapes and fantastic market gardens, the soil was like cement and very poor but they managed HARD WORK!!!!!  I recommend a visit if passing it’s on the Pacific Highway before Ballina.
